I'm looking to buy a black Cosina-Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/1.9 - should be fine mechanically and optically. Cosmetics don't matter. Let me know if you have one or know where I can find one. Thanks.
Nice work on capturing "the people". They always make an interesting sight no matter what the quality of the photo is.
Italians have been bombarded by text messages by their government. Read for yourself:
"Opposition parties called it an invasion of privacy and a ploy to advance the government's campaign.
The message, received on cell phones on Thursday and Friday, carried the sender line of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Premier Silvio Berlusconi's office. The message detailed when the polls will be open and what documents citizens need to vote.
A consumer advocacy group Adusbef, estimating the cost of sending the flood of SMS messages, at more than $6.9 million, demanded to know who was footing the bill."
I clearly remember "weresorry.com" or whatever the name of the site was. Great initiative! I also remember the redneck response to that, less charming I must say
I know exactly what you mean.
When i see people that have, apparantly, outstanding shots of impoverished children I feel sort of numb.
There's so many shots from Africa and Asia now that it's become saturated.
As you said the hard thing to do is cover a local story and make it just as grabbing to the public.
Hope you are enjoing your time in France!
Anyway, seeing that you like Tim Dirven - check out Nikolai Ignatiev. I've just got his last-ever book lying on my lap. "Painting with light". He unfortunately died of cancer in 2004, he travelled the world and produced a massive chunk of absolutely amazing photos. I know his father-in-law, who presented this book to me. Seriously, if you can spare a bit of money you won't regret it. It's awesome.
Cheers,
Morten

thankyou for that feature, I don't think I'd seen his work before, it's fantastic and yeah, that green eyed one does remind me of the Steve McCurry one - for sure related!
I wish you all the best for your trips and wish I could join you... next time I'll be there - and that's a promise. Despite that - I have some news for you: i am in some negotiations with a guy from Luxembourg who is going to publish a book, I am doing the "usual" portraitjobs and I also managed to pull a job for a German newspaper - a series of articles included! In addition I am also hired for a ball. Now, I am slowly catching up with you
All the best!
cheers,
