brouillard & neige / impressions vagues

Austria 2005

(talking french makes me more "artistic". right?)
Daily Deviation, 2006-04-10

Daily Deviationimpressions vagues is special. ~elus1v is showing us a foggy photo that looks so old and unreal it's like from a fairytale. It totally steals my soul. (Suggested by `equivoque and Featured by `suzi9mm)

It's tough - that line on the right (artifact of scanning) both adds to and takes away from this incredible image, depending on one's perspective. Overall, though... well, I'm faving it :-)
I've noticed this photo by accident - & I'm glad I did.

In my home I have book with old (beggining of XX'th century) sephia photos from Polish mountains called Tatra's. The very last photo in it is called "Halny" it means "Foehn wind" - typical, strong wind that sometimes appears in Tatra's. It looks incredible.

I have similar feelings about your photos. The snow that is blown away from the mountain peak (maybe it is cloud) makes me feel so small, especially when I take a look at this alone hut in the corner. The film grain and this black vertical line at left side makes this scene only more attractive.

I will browse your gallery for sure.

Take care :peace: :flageu:

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the input & favorite,
though I really need a new scanner :)
Does Hp5 plus always come with this much grain? I hope so, because if it does I'm going to try some.

Awesome shot by the way. :)

The weather was horrible that day - snow, wind, rain, clouds: you could not tell one from another. It was horrible, but beautiful at the same time. I'm very happy you like the photo, and I'm even happier you took the time to write such a kind and interesting comment..

I had a quick glimpse at your gallery and it definitely looked amazing - I promise I'll check again, but right now I don't have any time... See you around, & take care!
It does come with a lot of (fine) grain, but I believe the amount you see here is a combination of the film, the weather, and my horrible scanner. I have not yet printed any other negatives of the same roll so I can't really compare - when I get in a real darkroom again I'll let you know :)

Thanks for the comment. Right now I have 1000 Deviations waiting for me in my message center, but I'm definitely going to check out your latest ones - had a quick glimpse at them already, they were looking very impressive.

take care,
Thanks!

And whatever it was, weather or scanner or film, I love the odd quality of these.

I'm glad you look around my gallery. You are welcome to visit it again :)

I was wondering if in internet is published this photo which I was talking about - and it's unfortunatly not. But I have found interesting pianting of famous Polish artist (architect, painter etc. - Witkiewicz) titled "Foehn wind" and it definitly corresponds very well with your photo: [link]

Cheers from Poland :peace: :flageu:
