Liviu and George. Two homeless kids in Brasov, Romania.

All my previous descriptions were about diseases, poverty and hunger. Hardly a surprise - one cannot ignore it. Misery is an integral part of their lives. But there is also brotherhood, comradery and hope.

For a better life. For a better world.

Pictures for editorial use and for the NGO "Helping Hands". Please contact me if you would like to make a donation to this NGO. They offer hot soup, soap, mental and dental assistance and some clothes to the kids. Now they are gathering funds to build a permanent shelter for the homeless kids in Brasov.

The little kid, I'm speechless. It seems as he is the one who hasn't lost his innocence yet.

This series is really good, especially the diversity you intended in your portraits while mastering the same photographic point of view

Yet another fantastic picture in the series. Amazing how one living in such misery can produce that sort of smile, maybe its all the glue? Very sad...

Are you shooting these on film? Would love to know.
Cheers

Yep, it's all film. TX+2 in microphen... I love that tri-x at 1600. Most if not all of the Romania pictures were taken with a 24mm 2.8.

cheers. and thanks!

so this is how romania it got that bad image....
speaking me: a romanian, not a gipsy from romania. there is a big diference.
can't deny: i like the picture, but... i/m more and more ashamed to be a romanian, mostly because of this kind of confusion. those are romanian gipsy, a community that lives in Romania, and they do a lot of harm to us.

Fucking life...

I love the fact he's smiling. The background to the shot is enough without having photos that evoke pity in us.

The fact that he's smiling shows hope and a desire to move on.

Great shot :)

I'm glad that despite of their bad situation they can smile... they are innocent children... I have been in Romania twice and I saw that people, poor places..
It is touching me, and make me sad.
